Chants for Paws

It all started when a beautiful group of women from Alpha Xi Delta crashed our adoption event. Every single one of them wanted to foster puppies. We sent 4 puppies home with these lovely ladies, and from that moment on, it created a wave.
What happened next honestly blew us away.
The applications started rolling in. Then more came. And then even more. What started as one amazing group of college girls wanting to help quickly turned into something so much bigger than we ever expected. Their compassion, excitement, and willingness to open their hearts and homes sparked something incredibly special.
Because of that wave of support, we were pushed — in the best possible way — to create our official College Foster Program.
This program was born out of pure heart. Out of young women stepping up and saying, “We want to help.” Out of students proving that you do not have to own a home, have a big yard, or be in a certain season of life to make a life-changing difference for an animal in need. You just need love, commitment, and a little room in your heart.
We are beyond grateful to Alpha Xi Delta for showing up, for believing in our mission, and for helping us build something brand new. Because of them, more puppies will have a safe place to land. More dogs will get out of shelters. More lives will be changed.
This is exactly how big things happen. One act of kindness. One “yes.” One group of women willing to make a difference.
And now, because of them, a whole new chapter for South Paw Rescue has begun. 🐾💙

How it Works

College students living in pet friendly housing situations may apply to foster a dog/cat for one week. These weeks run SUNDAY - SUNDAY. They are supplied everything they need to a successful week stay.  We have DOG and CAT fosters!

What they do

These fosters provide valuable socialization for these animals, some of which have been in unimaginable situations. They provide these animals with exposure in the hopes of finding them new families.  The fosters also learn the responsibility of pet ownership before making future commitments.

What happens at the end?

They may return their puppy to foster, or extend their stay! They also have the option to adopt their foster puppy!
